Belgenny Farm is the oldest and most important collection of farm buildings in Australia. It was the Home Farm of the Camden Park Estate until 1973, remaining in the Macarthur family for nearly 170 years.
Ranked among Australia’s great agricultural pioneers, John and Elizabeth Macarthur and their descendants were at the forefront of the wool industry, dairying, horticulture and grape growing.
Curriculum-based farm excursions are delivered by the NSW Department of Primary Industries School programs team, and A Smart Farmer: mobile dairy classroom in the wide, open spaces of the 1600-hectare farm.
Excursion programs align to NSW syllabus for Kindergarten to Year 12 including outcomes for Agriculture, Food Technology, Geography, History, Science, Technology and Technology Mandatory. Customised programs are also available.
The Belgenny teaching resources have been developed to support students in either an onsite or online visit to the historic Belgenny Creamery. Students undertaking these units will consider the way that science and technology have changed and improved agriculture over time.
